Shrikhand is a dessert from Western India and is a lowfat cheesecake made with flavored hung yogurt. I have combined chocolate and yogurt to make this dessert. The creaminess from the yogurt and the flavorful chocolate goes very well together. I usually top it off with toasted pistachios for the crunch.
Chocolate chips-1/2 cup (melted with 3 tbsp butter)
hung yogurt- 1 cup
cardamom powder-1 tsp
Graham cracker crumbs-1/4 cup crumbled
Powdered sugar-3/4 cup
Vanilla essence-1 tsp
Pistachios-2 tbsp chopped
- Hung yogurt- Place 3-4 cups of yogurt on a cheesecloth, tie it and put in a colander. Place the colander in a dish so that the dish collects the draining liquid. Keep this overnight in the refrigerator.
- Next day take the hung yogurt in a bowl and add in chocolate chips melted and cooled,cardamom, vanilla essence, powdered sugar and mix well.
- Scoop this onto martini glasses and garnish it with graham cracker crumbs and toasted pistachios.
